If you are like me, you can’t stand throwing out fabulous beauty products or putting them into hibernation because they are “out of season.” If you use a little imagination you can recycle all of your favorite beauty products and attire by changing them up for each season. Plus you can buy products on sale between seasons and save big! Here’s a great way you can take your spring nail polishes and use them to create perfect summer nails:
First, I started off with the Priti NYC Spring 2013 Sherbet Collection on everything but my middle finger. (From left to right: Belle Courtisane, Mermaid Rose, Remember Me, and Happy Wanderer) Each one is $13.50 or you can purchase the entire set at a discounted price of $35.99. The thing I love best about these polishes is that they are 5 free, vegan, and non-toxic so that means no animal testing and no obnoxious fumes. They are buildable color so you can wear them sheer with one coat or brighter with 2 or three coats. This collection has a beautiful shimmery finish and their pastel-ish shades are bright enough to wear all the way into summer. They also have an incredible Bahama Summers Collection which is already summer-ready.
Next, I added a mint shade from Etoile called “Fizzy Cucumber” to my middle finger. Their polishes run $18 a bottle but are totally worth the splurge since they contain genuine diamond and leave your nails with an unreal finish. The texture of this polish is a little different than most so use thin layers, letting each one dry in between, to build an opaque finish. Etoile is also 5-free making them one of mine and my furry friends’ fave eco-friendly nail polishes.
When your finished your nails will have a bright Easter egg-esque look which is perfect for spring. As you can see the polished are very pigmented so with just a little nail decor your fingers can be sparkling into summer.
This is where the rhinestones come in. Forget paying a dollar a rhinestone at the nail salon. I purchased mine for $5 a pack which you can find at practically any beauty supply store online. I skip the expensive nail tools and use an orange stick to apply my rhinestones. First, I coat my nails with rhinestone glue, dab the orange stick in the glue, and pick up the rhinestones by touching the tops of them with the orange stick. Then, I evenly place the the rhinestones all over my nails.
Voila! The bright rhinestones bring out the pigment in the polish even more so they look more intense and appropriate for the season. I finish up by coating my nails with a shiny clear polish and they are beach ready. The great thing about these nails is that you can pair them with a floral sundress or a bright bikini so they are perfect for practically every occasion this summer.
